Microsoft’s Samsung Galaxy S9, S9+ Now Available For Pre-Order

Microsoft’s attempts at getting into the mobile game haven’t been too successful, and save for their Surface tablets, Microsoft’s mobile efforts have largely been focused on software. In fact it looks like Microsoft is hoping to embed themselves in more popular devices, like the recently launched Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.

The company is now accepting pre-orders for their customized version of the Galaxy S9 and S9+. The handset for the most part is still the same phone that was announced. It will still run on Android, but there are some slight differences aimed more towards Microsoft users, such as it being compatible with the Microsoft Launcher.

This customization will be applied when the phone is connected to a WiFi signal, in which it will also activate apps such as OneDrive, Excel, Skype, Word, OneNote, Cortana, and Outlook. These are all apps that are already available via the Google Play Store so users who don’t buy this version can always download them separately.

We suppose this is aimed more towards Microsoft users who want everything ready right out of the box. It should also be noted that the phones sold via the Microsoft Store are unlocked and sold at full price, with the Galaxy S9 priced at $720 while the Galaxy S9+ is priced at $840.
