UberRush Delivery Service Being Shut Down

Uber has decided to shut down its on-demand package delivery service called UberRush. The service was launched back in 2014 in Manhattan and it allowed users to get someone to pick up and deliver their package. The service was later expanded to San Francisco and Chicago but UberRush never made it beyond these markets. The company then decided in April last year that restaurants wouldn’t be able to use the service anymore and would need to switch to UberEats instead for delivery. The company has now confirmed in a statement that it has decided to shut down UberRush. UberRush.

“We’re winding down UberRUSH deliveries and ending services by the end of June,” a spokesperson for the company confirmed to TechCrunch.

It has also sent out emails to users confirming that the service will close operations on June 30th, 2018. “At Uber, we believe in making big bold bets, and while ending UberRUSH comes with some sadness, we will continue our mission of building reliable technology that serves people and cities all over the world,” the email says.

The company also said in its statement that it’s already applying many of the lessons that it learned from running this service to its UberEats food delivery business that’s now live in more than 200 global markets and covers more than 100,000 restaurants.
