Samsung’s Galaxy Watch Picks Up Radio Certification

Samsung is expected to unveil a new smartwatch alongside the Galaxy Note 9 next month. Even though it’s going to be the successor to the Gear S3 the new smartwatch is likely going to be called the Galaxy Watch. The upcoming smartwatch is now one step closer to release as it has picked up its radio certification.

These certification and regulatory listings are often good indicators of an impending launch of a new device. Multiple reports have suggested that the Galaxy Watch will be unveiled alongside the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9th in New York City.

The Galaxy Watch has already been certified by the Federal Communications Commission in the United States. It has now picked up the relevant regulatory approvals from the Korean equivalent of the FCC. Both models have been certified.

Samsung will offer two different models of the Galaxy Watch with both having a minor difference in the display sizes. The underlying specifications will largely remain the same. Both models also have support for the same LTE bands which means that they will be compatible with the same LTE networks.

No word as yet on how much the Galaxy Watch is going to cost. Samsung will confirm this when it unveils the smartwatch. The Galaxy Watch is expected to be released with the Galaxy Note 9 on August 24th.
