Vivo Android Pie Updates Will Be Released In Q4

Now that Google has released Android 9 Pie all eyes are on its OEM partners to see how quickly they are able to release the latest iteration of its mobile platform for their devices. The update has only been released for Pixel smartphones and the Essential Phone so far. Chinese manufacturer Vivo has said that it’s going to start rolling out Android Pie for supported devices in the fourth quarter of this year.

If history is any indication, it will take a considerable amount of time before most popular OEMs are ready to release Android 9 Pie for their devices. Many of them haven’t even revealed their Android Pie roadmaps as yet but Vivo has provided some information about it.

The company has said in a statement that its users should expect new software updates based on Android 9 Pie for its smartphones to be released in the fourth quarter of this year. Vivo hasn’t provided any specific timeframe for the release.

It also didn’t say which devices will be the first to receive the Android 9 Pie update. It’s speculation that the Vivo X21 might be one of the first devices to get Android Pie. The Vivo Nex, an ambitious all-screen device with a pop-up camera, might also be among the very first devices to get Android Pie from Vivo.
