One of the problems that still plagues the Android platform till this day are slow updates. This is where OEMs can sometimes take months before a major Android update is released, and this can also come in different stages depending on where you live, and whether or not carriers need to approve them.

However it seems that this is changing somewhat with Android 9.0 Pie. The update was recently released a few days ago and within the same day, the update began rolling out to the Essential Phone. Now according to reports, it appears that over in India, the update has also started to make its way onto the handsets of Nokia 7 Plus users.

It is unclear as to how one qualifies to receive the update as NPU reports that they have yet to receive theirs, but chances are it could be a staggered release which means that it is being rolled out in phases. This is very good news as it means that it is possible that other Nokia devices could be receiving it in the near future as well.

Back in May the folks at HMD Global did confirm that Android 9.0 Pie (known as Android P back then) would be released for all Nokia smartphones, although the company did not say when, but like we said the speedy release for the Nokia 7 Plus in India is encouraging for Nokia users in other parts of the world.
