New Palm Phone Details Officially Revealed

It was reported earlier this year that TCL will be reviving the Palm brand by launching a new Android-powered smartphone. An image of this device leaked online a couple of months back and now it’s finally official. The first Palm phone has been officially announced today. It’s actually made by a San Francisco-based startup that acquired the rights to the Palm name from TCL in 2017.

The Palm isn’t mean to replace your main smartphone. It’s not going to compete with the iPhones and the Galaxy Note 9s of the world. It’s meant to be less of a distraction when you’re out for the evening or at a weekend getaway.

It’s a small device that can fit in the palm of your hand, very appropriate, and offers the full Android experience. It runs version 8.1 Oreo and gets full Google Play Store access for the apps you may need. It won’t be sold as a standalone device, though. It’s exclusive to Verizon in the United States and the carrier will sell it as an add-on for existing plans. The Palm phone can’t be purchased on its own or unlocked so it will not be your main device.

Some of you might question the logic of buying a second smartphone to get away from your first but it may make sense to a lot of people. The device will offer proper connectivity, much more than the minimalist phones that do little more than just talk and text. It has a Snapdragon 435 processor with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. There’s a 3.3 inch LCD display, an 8 megapixel front and a 12 megapixel rear camera. The Palm phone is priced at $349.99 and it’s going to be available from Verizon next month.
