Tesla Produced A Record 80,000 Vehicles In Q3 2018

Tesla’s production woes have been well documented but the company has been working hard to iron out the problems and produce as many vehicles as possible. The company has now released its figures for the quarter which have exceeded the market’s expectations. It delivered 83,500 vehicles during the third quarter which is an 80 percent increased compared to the same period last year.

Wall Street was estimating 80,500 deliveries during the third quarter of this year but Tesla has come out with a better number. Some investors remain concerned about the company’s profitability despite improved production numbers and would like to have seen the company provide more data on its sale prices and cost of production.

The surge in total production numbers is attributed to the Tesla Model 3, the company’s first mass-market electric car. Of the 80,142 vehicles it produced in the quarter, 26,903 were the Model S and X while 53,239 were Model 3 sedans. The company has been able to deliver 80 percent more vehicles in Q3 2018 than it did during the same period last year.

“With production stabilized, delivery and outbound vehicle logistics were our main challenges,” Tesla said in a statement, adding that it will continue to make further improvements in the fourth quarter to scale successfully.
