AT&T’s Power Drum Wireless Charger Revealed

If you’re looking for a new wireless charger, you might be interested to learn that AT&T might have something for you. According to a sighting by Zatz Not Funny, it seems that both the FCC and Wireless Power Consortium have revealed the carrier’s plans to launch a wireless charger called the “Power Drum”.

As you can see in the image to the right, this is not your typical wireless charger. According to the findings, this charger actually pulls triple duty as a wireless charger where you place your phone on the top; a charger for the Apple Watch where you wrap the smartwatch around the center and align it with the magnetic charger; and a power bank where it appears to pack a 3,000mAh battery.

This means that you can also bring it with you on the go to charge either your smartwatch or smartphone, as long as your smartphone supports Qi wireless charging. The filing also reveals that it will feature a micro USB port for charging, but there is no mention of additional USB ports which means that you can’t plug cables to the device to charge them in wired mode.

The full and official details haven’t been revealed yet so there is a chance we could be wrong, so we’ll just have to wait and see. No word on pricing or availability yet either, but hoping the stop by at the FCC and WPC means that it could be close to launch.
