For a while, it seemed like the notch was a design feature that we can probably expect to see on smartphones for a while to come. However, it appears that the trend could be dying a rather quick death as we’re starting to see more handset manufacturers come up with alternatives. ASUS will be one of them.

In a teaser image shared on Twitter, the company has shared a render of what appears to be their upcoming ASUS Zenfone 6 smartphone. Based on the silhouette, it seems that the handset will feature a notch-less design, but what appears to be a bezel-less display as well. Of course, whether the actual handset will look like this remains to be seen.

Since the phone is ditching the notch, we’re sure many are wondering what will become of the front-facing cameras. It is really anyone’s guess at this point in time, but as we have seen in the past, alternatives to the notch include either a slide-out front-facing camera or a popup front-facing camera, so we’ll just have to wait and see which ASUS will go with.

The company has also revealed that the phone is expected to be officially announced on the 16th of May, so do check back with us then if you’d like all the official details about the smartphone.
