Mozilla Is Gearing Up To Launch Its News Subscription Service

Mozilla is a company that most of you might be familiar with for its Firefox browser, but in recent times, the company seems to be expanding on their product portfolio and earlier this year, they launched a news service in which users could source their news articles from, similar to what other companies such as Opera have done.

For those who might be interested in checking out Mozilla’s news subscription platform, according to reports, it seems that the company is gearing up to launch the service where it is expected to be priced at $5 a month. This would provide users with news minus the ads, which Mozilla had previously called “Firefox Ad-free Internet”.

The service has yet to go live, but the reports are claiming that Mozilla is preparing to launch the beta as they are sending out email invites to users, asking them if they might be interested in participating in it. Mozilla claims that the $5 subscription will be shared with the publications that users read, where they say, “We share your payment directly with the sites you read. They make more money which means they can bring you great content without needing to distract you with ads just to keep the lights on.”

It is unclear how popular Mozilla’s news service will be, especially since the market seems to be flooded with so many other similar services, so we’ll have to wait and see.
