Next-Gen AirPods Rumored To Enter Production As Early As This October

According to the rumors, Apple apparently planned to launch three AirPods models this year. During the early part of the year, Apple launched the AirPods 2, but apparently there are plans to launch two more in the later part of the year. This is according to notable Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo.

Kuo claims that one model will be an iterative update to AirPods while the other is rumored to be a bigger update with a brand new design, water-resistance, and active noise-cancelling. Now according to a report from DigiTimes, Apple’s next-gen AirPods are said to be planned for production as early as October.

At this point it is unclear as to which model this could be, but there is a good chance that this could be the iterative update model. This is because according to a Bloomberg report, the AirPods with noise-cancellation and a new design will probably only arrive in 2020. We’re not sure why Apple would launch an updated AirPods this year, especially since the AirPods 2 was launched about half a year ago.

Take this report with a grain of salt for now, especially with DigiTimes’ track record when it comes to Apple-related rumors. In the meantime, Huawei has actually beaten Apple to the punch when it comes to noise-cancelling earbuds with the FreeBuds 3 that was launched at IFA 2019 last week.
