Game Of Thrones ‘House of the Dragon’ Prequel Series Confirmed

Yesterday, it was announced that the Game of Thrones prequel series that was supposed to star Naomi Watts and launch on HBO had been cancelled. However, it seems that following the news of the cancellation, HBO has since announced a straight-to-series order for another prequel titled “House of the Dragon”.

As the name implies, this will be a prequel that will focus on House Targaryen. It is expected to take place 300 years before the current Game of Thrones series, but exactly what we might be able to expect remains to be seen. According to HBO programming president Casey Bloys, “The Game of Thrones universe is so rich with stories. We look forward to exploring the origins of House Targaryen and the earlier days of Westeros along with Miguel, Ryan and George.”

If you’re a bit confused about why there are multiple prequels, Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin did previously confirm that there would be about five potential spin-offs. Of course, not all of them are going to be made, as we saw in the case of the prequel with Naomi Watts. However, overall it is still good news for fans who want to explore the world a bit further.

There is no word on when the series will be launching, but if you’re a fan of the series, then this could be worth keeping an eye out for.
