Google To Replace Bricked Home, Home Mini Devices Affected By Firmware Update

Earlier this week, we reported that in a firmware update that was pushed out to the Google Home and Home Mini devices, some users ended up with bricked devices where in some cases, there was nothing that they could do about it. It was made worse with some users claiming that Google was refusing to replace the affected devices outside of its warranty.

The good news is that if you were one of those affected by this, then you’ll be pleased to learn that in a statement provided to Android Police, Google has confirmed that they will indeed be replacing affected devices. They also stated that they will be issuing an update that will fix the problem to prevent it from happening again.

The statement reads, “We are aware that a small number of Google Home and Google Home Mini devices are affected by an issue that causes the device to stop working. We have a fix that will prevent the issue from happening and will be rolling it out soon. We are replacing affected devices.”

So, if you are one of those who were affected by the firmware update and might have been rejected by Google for a replacement, then you might want to try again and maybe cite Google’s recent statement.
