UK Army General Thinks Robots Could Make Up A Quarter Of Their Army By The 2030s

One of the reasons why robots are preferred over humans for certain tasks is because they don’t necessarily need to take breaks the same way humans do. They don’t get “tired” in the conventional sense, don’t call in sick, and always do what they’re told. This is why they’re perfect for manufacturing, and also why they might be perfect for the army.

In fact, according to a report from the Guardian, General Sir Nick Carter of the UK military has told Sky News during an interview that he believes that by the 2030s, about a quarter of the British army could consist of robots. While he states that he isn’t setting a firm deadline, he does believe that by that time, robots could be used to help stand in the frontlines during a conflict.

General Carter’s predictions shouldn’t really come as a surprise as we’re already seeing more robots being used in the army, whether it be used for bomb removals, scouting, and so on. In fact, having a robot-centric army makes a lot more sense as it means that less human lives will be wasted should a conflict ever occur.

However, while on paper it makes sense, we’re sure that there are some who are concerned about what the use of robots and AI in the military could mean. After all, we’ve seen enough movies that depict robots taking over the world and enslaving humanity.
