HBO’s The Last Of Us Series Has Just Cast Its Main Character

Last year, it was reported that HBO is planning on creating a limited series based on Sony and Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us video game. Many have wondered who could end up playing the main character, Ellie, and now a report from The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the actress we can expect.

Bella Ramsey, probably best known for her work as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones and also providing the voice for Netflix’s Hilda animated series, has been cast as Ellie. Given that the game also has another protagonist in the form of Joel, who serves as Ellie’s protector in the game, it is unclear who that role may go to.

However, the report did reveal that there were initial rumors that Mahershala Ali could be interested in the role, but apparently talks did not pan out, so right now it’s anyone’s guess as to who could end up playing Joel. It will be interesting to see how the TV series will play out, although the game itself did feel a lot like a movie/TV show anyway, so we reckon it actually makes a pretty good fit for TV.

There is currently no word on when the series will be released, so we’ll just have to wait for some kind of official confirmation or announcement later.
