Google’s Rumored Foldable Pixel Might Have Been Delayed

We have been hearing rumors that Google could be working on developing its own foldable smartphone. Many had anticipated that the device could launch as soon as this year, but it turns out that maybe it might not be happening this year after all.

This is according to a report from 91mobiles who heard from their source that Google has apparently delayed its foldable project. This would suggest that the phone might not launch this year, but it seems that in spite of that, their report claims that Google could actually show a preview of the phone at the Pixel 6 event later this year.

It is unclear why the device has been delayed, but presumably maybe it isn’t up to Google’s standards yet or there could be some technical hurdles that they have yet to overcome. That being said, we reckon it’s probably time for other phone makers to get into the foldables game, a market which is currently dominated by Samsung.

While we have seen some foldables from other handset makers, Samsung is the clear market leader and have already put out three iterations of the Galaxy Z Fold series to date. A foldable Pixel phone could be interesting, and we have heard rumblings that Apple might also be interested in the form factor.
