2022’s iPhone SE Expected To Maintain The Same Design

The iPhone SE is currently the only iPhone out of Apple’s entire lineup to still feature the use of Touch ID and a physical home button, providing us with a daily reminder of what iPhones used to look like. There have been rumors that there are plans for a 2022 iPhone SE, but unfortunately it seems that the design will be sticking around.

The current iPhone SE was launched in 2020 and featured outdated hardware because it was meant to be a cheaper alternative to the flagship iPhone, so in a way the reuse of the iPhone 8’s design and hardware made sense. However, those hoping to see a brand new design to be more in line with Apple’s current iPhones will be disappointed.

This is according to Mac Otakara who heard from their “reliable sources” in China that the design of the iPhone SE from 2020 will be sticking around for the 2022 model, meaning that those who want an updated design will need to buy Apple’s more expensive flagships.

The main differences to the phone will be mostly under the hood, where Apple is expected to update the hardware with a new A15 Bionic chipset found in the iPhone 13 series, as well as the inclusion of 5G that will make the phone a more affordable 5G capable iPhone.
