Phil Spencer Confirms The Elder Scrolls VI Will Be An Xbox Exclusive

A few months ago, there was a tweet by Jeff Grubb in which he said that Bethesda’s upcoming The Elder Scrolls VI would be exclusive to the Xbox. Prior to that, Bethesda’s Pete Hines had also hinted at Xbox exclusivity, and now in an interview with GQ, Xbox head Phil Spencer has essentially all but confirmed it to be the case.

The interview talks a lot about Microsoft’s Xbox gaming platform and covered a variety of topics, including Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda which led to Starfield being an Xbox and PC exclusive. In the interview, Spencer revealed that they will be giving The Elder Scrolls VI a similar treatment.

According to Spencer, “It’s not about punishing any other platform, like I fundamentally believe all of the platforms can continue to grow. But in order to be on Xbox, I want us to be able to bring the full complete package of what we have. And that would be true when I think about Elder Scrolls VI. That would be true when I think about any of our franchises.”

At this point in time, it is unclear when The Elder Scrolls VI will launch. Bethesda is still working on Starfield which is set for a 2022 launch, which means it could still be years before The Elder Scrolls VI becomes a reality.
