If you were around and old enough when the first Sony PlayStation was launched, you’ll probably remember how Sony used to market the console by almost always having a demo of Crash Bandicoot running on it. Safe to say that many PlayStation gamers grew up playing the game and its various iterations, so learning about the remaster was probably good news.
With so many games to choose from in today’s market, we’re sure some of the younger gamers might be curious as to why Crash Bandicoot is still getting so much attention these days. It is because Crash Bandicoot was one of the classics of the original PlayStation, which we guess you could almost think of as it being Sony’s “Mario” equivalent.
Just like how Mario is iconic to Nintendo, and how Master Chief from Halo is icon to the Xbox platform, Crash Bandicoot is one of the more iconic characters for Sony’s PlayStation platform, what with Sony demoing the game rather heavily during the launch of their first PlayStation console.
If you can remember the time when the first PlayStation was ever launched, you might recall that Sony had set up booths featuring the PlayStation console all over the place, and one the games that they kept offering up as a demo was Crash Bandicoot. Its playstyle and graphics were quite unique and different at that time, but safe to say that the game has since faded into obscurity.
Back when Sony got into the console business, one of the console’s definitive games that was constantly demoed was Crash Bandicoot. This showed off the console’s potential and some of the games and quality of games that PlayStation gamers could expect from the company, but fast forward to today, Sony has their hands full with other franchises.
Back in the day of the original PlayStation, it would be impossible to see the PlayStation not showing off games like Crash Bandicoot as one of its demos. After all as far as consoles were concerned, the game was something of a breakthrough.
