iOS 5.1 tethered jailbreak now available
Just yesterday we reported that iOS 5.1 was launched and available for immediate download, and the good news for iOS users out there is that the update has since been jailbroken! The iPhone Dev Team have recently announced that their Redsn0w jailbreak tool has been updated to allow the jailbreaking of iOS 5.1 devices, but of course there are several caveats that potential jailbreakers should definitely pay attention to.

While iOS 5 can be jailbroken, unfortunately its jailbreaking method is currently limited to a tethered jailbreak. iOS 5 beta 5 gets redsn0w tethered jailbreak
A while back we mentioned that non-developer devices that were running on iOS 5 would be disabled by Apple due to them not having the proper authorization. While we can’t confirm that there have been many cases of devices being disabled due to unauthorized use of iOS 5, if you are such a user, it appears that the jailbreak for iOS 5 beta 5 has already been released.
