The tribute in question is Pentax’s original film camera released half a century ago, back when the company was known as Asahi Optical Joint Stock Co. The AP50 comes in a vintage body where the pyramid chassis holds the pentaprism viewfinder. This DSLR camera features digital controls that hark back to those found on the K10D, although the positions have been changed to keep in line with the chassis design and style. You also won’t find any pop-up flash accompanying the AP50. If you’re in Tokyo anytime from now until the end of July, you can always head down to the Pentax headquarters there and check out the AP50. No idea on whether this is going on sale or not, nor how much will it cost.
