Mio to release 3G phones next year

Mio Technology of Taiwan who has long developed GPS navigation devices aims to expand its product line by introducing 3G GPS PDA phones sometime in the second half of next year. This move aims to hedge itself against the competition, including HTC, Asustek, E-Ten and BenQ. The 3G GPS PDA phone is tipped to utilize Qualcomm’s 3.5G platform and will feature integrated application services such as photo navigation, Traffic Message Channel and Location Base Service. Word on the street also has it that Garmin has been targeting handset manufacturers in order to arrive at an agreement to develop their own GPS-enabled smartphones. With so much competition going on, things can only get better for the consumers.
