NEC has released its MultiSync MD21GS-5MP flat panel monitor that targets medical imaging applications, including mammography and PACS (picture archiving and communication system). This new monitor boasts a native resolution of 2,560 x 2,048 and comes with in-plane switching (IPS) LCD module technology which make it more than able to offer powerful details of medical images and a possible 3,061 shades of gray. A backlight sensor, DICOM calibration, a 30-ms response time and a contrast ratio of 600:1 rounds off the list of features.
