Sega’s Megadrive certainly ruled the console world when it boasted way superior graphics to the NES, but Sega’s heydays have long passed. Good to know that Blaze will be coming up with a 16-bit Megadrive handheld console this month, enabling you to play Sega Megadrive classics including Sonic and Knuckles, Golden Axe, Shinobi and Ecco the Dolphin. Other games that are in the pipeline consist of Alex Kidd – Enchanted Castle, Alien Storm Altered Beast, Arrow Flash, Crackdown, Decap Attack, Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, Ecco Junior, Flicky, Gain Ground, Jewel Master, Kid Chameleon, Sonic Spinball and Shadow Dancer, and retro gamers will probably be shedding a tear of joy by now. Other features include :-
- Plug & play portable video game system
- 20 built-in 16-bit SEGA licensed games
- Built-in speakers
- Build in color LCD display
- TV out connection
- TV format: PAL
Powered by a trio of AAA batteries, the Blaze Megadrive handheld will retail for £29.99. Man, three AAA batteries are all it needs?! Remember the battery guzzling Sega Game Gear? How technology has changed. Well, this looks similar in terms of hardware with the $39.99 Megadrive Portable that we covered last year, save for the difference in external packaging.
