Panasonic Lumix ZS3 with 12X Optical Zoom, Just Launched

Panasonic just launched the Lumix ZS3, a camera that features a 12X optical zoom. Previous compact cameras had a 10X Zoom at best, and we know that people just love the super-zooms. the ZS3 also records video in HD, in the AVCHD Lite format. The video can then be displayed on an HDTV via HDMI. As you can expect, there are a ton of presets, including a panorama mode. The crown jewel is in the back: there’s a large 3″ LCD display. From Panasonic:

  • Has a 12.7 Megapixel CCD, though only 10.1 million are used for photos
  • 3-inch LCD with 460,000 pixels
  • Intelligent Auto Mode enhanced with “face recognition” feature, which remembers faces that frequently appear
  • Records HD video (1280 x 720) at a whopping 60 frames/second
  • 300 shots per charge
  • Available in silver, black, blue, and red
