Apple's new iMac is here

The Apple Store just came back online and reveals a new iMac. Here are the updates:

Larger displays: 21.5″ and an impressive 27″ 16:9 display (LED backlit). the 21.5″ has a 1920×1080 resolution, which matches HD videos. The 27″ has 2560×1440 pixels. They are also said to have a wide viewing angle. The new iMac have an edge-to-edge glass.

Wireless mouse and keyboard: these two are now “standard issue”. Note that this is the small keyboard without a numeric pad. If you’re an accountant (or a programmer!) that might matter. Oh and the new mouse is the new multi-touch mouse (Wireless Magic Mouse).

Faster CPU: 3.33Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2.66Ghz Core i5 (quad) or 2.8Ghz Core i7 processor (quad).

ATI is back: While Nvidia’s 9400M is still offered as an integrated GPU for the 21.5″ iMac, ATI is not the discrete GPU of choice for the 27″ iMac.

More memory: 4GB becomes the new minimum and there’s now 4 DIMM slots (versus two).

Misc: this iMac features a smaller pedestal and a new speaker design (check the bottom view on Apple’s site). Overall, there’s more space, so Apple has been able to design a better cooling, which translates to a quieter computer (18 decibels)
