Hardware acceleration for Flash is a go in Mac OS X 10.6.3
Just when you thought that Apple and Adobe could not get along, we have word from a discovered technical document that points toward a new Video Decode Acceleration framework within Mac OS X 10.6.3. In layman’s terms, that framework will offer developers with low-level access to the following GPUs – NVIDIA GeForce 9400M, GeForce 320M or GeForce GT 330M, which lets them access the graphical hardware to accelerate the decoding of H.264 videos, hence releasing the main processor for other tasks. Basically, you get a sped up system with a Flash player that runs smoother than ever before. Expect to see this boost encapsulate the MacBook Pro, Mac mini and iMac.
