Hongrun Electronic rocks MID market with MID700

Hongrun Electronic of China (where else) is ready to introduce an aptly named MID700 to the Mobile Internet Device (MID) market, where they took a rather strange move of letting Windows CE6.0 being the operating system of choice. This is disappointing since many other hardware manufacturers have sported Windows XP and even Windows 7, although Windows CE6.0 won’t take up that much hardware requirements in the first place, which results in a cheaper final price point. With a 800MHz Telechips TCC8901 chipset running the show from within, you get a 7” resistive touchscreen display at 800 x 480 resolution, 256MB RAM, 2GB of flash memory, a USB port, a mini USB port and an SD memory card slot for expansion purposes. No idea on how long the battery life is, but it ought to be decent enough to run for at least a couple of hours (we hope). At around $145 a pop, we guess you can always import this as a hobbyist project. [Translated Page]
