Bluetooth Core Specification Version 4.0 adopted

Hmmm, Bluetooth 3.0 was just launched over a year ago, but the Bluetooth SIG has already announced a formal adoption of the Bluetooth Core Specification Version 4.0. One of the hallmark feature of Bluetooth 4.0 would be the low energy technology which will allow devices requiring low cost and low power wireless connectivity to make use of the new Bluetooth standard, and we can expect to see Bluetooth 4.0 encroach on different areas including health care, home entertainment, sports and fitness among others. Other features include multi-vendor interoperability and the “ability to run for years on standard coin-cell batteries,” or so the Bluetooth SIG claims. We await the first Bluetooth 4.0-enabled phone – who do you think will be first off the blocks?
