Engineer Uses Laser And Webcam To Build Budget 3D Scanner

3D scanners are already available in the market, but you’ll need some serious money in order to be able to afford one, which is why it’s good news to hear that a young engineer has managed to come up with a cheap 3D scanner that is capable of working with desktop fabricators, and it was built using a webcam and a laser. It works by sweeping a red laser beam across any object that is placed in front of the webcam, allowing the system to get the necessary information to come up with a 3D replica of the original object. It’s pretty neat, and hopefully it means that in the future we won’t have to worry if we accidentally break those plastic parts from various items thatwe purchase.
