Nintendo DS and Wii set new US Sales Records in 2010

Nintendo DS

There’s no doubt that Nintendo’s gaming consoles are selling very well in most parts of the world, but 2010 has produced two sales milestones for Nintendo in the United States. The family of handheld gaming consoles, the Nintendo DS, has sold an all time high of 47 million units since its inception in November 2004 – that makes it the best-selling video game system of all time in America. The Wii is no slouch either, in terms of sales. While their competitors only started to sell motion-sensing accessories for their gaming consoles last year, for the past three years – Nintendo has managed to sell more than 7 million units of their motion sensing console annually, a feat never before accomplished in the history of video games by a home console. This shows that a console doesn’t need the best graphics in order to sell well – it just needs to be fun and have fun games in order to succeed. Let’s see what milestones they can set with their new Nintendo 3DS console this year when it is released in March.
