PiCycle electric bicycle goes anti-theft

Just when you thought that anti-theft technology existed in more expensive vehicles like a car, here ambles the PiCycle (gotta love the name!) that was designed by Marcus Hays, the main man behind PiMobility. This is a fully electric bicycle, where the PiCycle will feature an inbuilt theft-recovery service that is smart enough to update its location on your smartphone. Forget about Wi-Fi – it has Pi-Fi, an embedded wireless technology which will stream critical data to the PiCycle owner’s smartphone or iPod touch courtesy of a native application. The PiMobility software is smart enough to monitor battery health, battery charging frequency, battery cycle life, motor and controller experience among others. This front-drive electric bicycle sports a 750 watt, 36-volt brushless DC motor and 7-speeds to help you conquer difficult terrain on your more sweaty moments. You won’t find it to be cheap though at $2,495 a pop, where a pre-loved car that is reasonable aged might even be cheaper.
