Flash trigger with programmable delay

Flash triggers are often used to capture quick events such as a balloon popping, and if you’re short of cash, perhaps you’d want to build one yourself. Since precise timing is usually needed to capture the moment, it normally is quite troublesome to synchronize the event and thus this solution was born. The flash pictured above uses a PICAXE 08M and allows the photographer to use any trigger they desire and adds a delay. The box pictured is set up for a 42-millisecond delay, so if you’re using the sound of the balloon pop as a trigger, you can easily hold off the flash until it’s really needed.
