Sony MDR-DS6500 wireless headphones give you 7.1ch surround sound

Sony MDR-DS6500Sony has just announced the introduction of their new MDR-DS6500 digital surround headphones. Aimed at the audiophile looking for the ultimate audio immersive experience who doesn’t want to spend so much money decking out their living rooms with seven different speakers, the MDR-DS6500 sure feels like the perfect solution.

The headphones provide a virtual 7.1 channel surround system to your ears so you can enjoy all your HD movies and games with the audio quality they deserve. In addition to supporting content that’s made for 7.1 channel surround, these headphones can take stereo 2ch or 5.1 channel content and build a virtual 7.1 channel soundstage so the headphones don’t go to waste. And the best part about the headphones? They’re completely wireless, so you don’t have to deal with the hassles of managing cables, and you’ll be able to sit on any seat in your living room to experience the same sound quality. The MDR-DS6500 also comes with a wireless charging dock that gives the headphones 20 hours of usage after a single 3 hour charge.

No word on how much the MDR-DS6500 will cost, but it will be available from Sony starting next month.
