New hardcore Kinect games will debut at E3

Microsoft Kinect

At last year’s E3, Microsoft was all about showing off Kinect‘s final branding and hyping up the $150 camera sensor as much as possible. Launched in November, Kinect quickly went on to sell over 10 million units in its first 60 days, earning itself a slot in the Guinness World Records for fastest selling consumer electronic ever. Now that the hype’s dyed down a bit, the Kinect can still be found on store shelves and gamers are getting a little tired of the demo-like launch games, it’s time for Microsoft to buckle down and put its weight behind the hack-friendly accessory.

If a new rumor is true, then gamers might see 10 new non-sequel Kinect games by the end of this year – most of which should debut at E3 next month.

Actual title details are scant, but we’re hearing a Star Wars Kinect game (Lightsaber battling or Force destruction?) and Crytek’s Codename: Kingdom will be making a showing. Maybe that Forza 4 with Kinect will make an appearance? Let’s hope this rumor is true because history has shown that without good games, add-ons become fad items. That’s one of the reasons why the Wii can’t be called fad – its motion controls aren’t add-on, it’s the console’s main sell.
