Apple iOS 5 gains top spot in HTML5 speed test

Back in April, Microsoft did put up a demo that showed off their then-experimental Windows Phone Mango alongside its Internet Explorer 9 Mobile browser that managed to work in tandem to deliver a much higher score on a custom-made HTML5 test compared to either Android or iOS platforms. Apple isn’t one to sit back and take things lightly of course, where the latest beta of iOS 5 does show off MobileSafari at the top, passing even the current IE 9 Mobile score by a significant margin – at least according to WinRumors.

The iOS5 release will arrive around the same time as Mango, which would be sometime early this fall. Both Mango and iOS 5 will not cost you a single cent, so they are free updates for their respective platforms.
