Adobe announces Flash Player 11 and AIR 3

Adobe Flash logoWhile it seems like Flash isn’t getting much love from a number of operating system these days (even IE10 on Windows 8 Metro UI won’t support it), Adobe hasn’t given up and is still creating updates for it. The company today announced an update to the Flash Player, bringing it up to version 11, along with version 3 of Adobe AIR. With this update, Adobe hopes to improve the performance of Flash content across all platforms.

Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 is said to allow game publishers to deliver console-quality 2D and 3D games over the internet due to support for full-hardware acceleration. In addition to delivering high quality games, media companies will be able to deliver protected feature-length, cinema-quality HD video through the internet to mobile platforms as well as internet connected TVs. It looks like this new version of Flash will be taking Flash-based games to the next level, but the question is – will Flash be the weapon of choice in the future? Considering how everybody is moving towards HTML5. Flash 11 and AIR 3 will be available sometime next month.
