Samsung Galaxy Note 5.3 targeted at females?

Galaxy Note 5.3Are having gender-targeted devices ever a good idea? Well, the folks over at HTC thought so when they released the HTC Rhyme (aka Bliss) and now it appears that Samsung is taking the Galaxy Note in the same direction. The 5.3″ device with the gorgeous Super AMOLED HD display is said to be targeted at the female market – simply because of its large size which is suitable for people carrying handbags.

Apparently females find the idea of placing a 5.3″ device in their bags more appealing than a 10.1″ tablet, according to Samsung UK’s sales director who recently spoke with T3.com. Samsung is said to be looking at special propositions for the female customer as well as releasing different colored versions of the Note.

Honestly, other than the fact that it might be too large for many pockets, the Galaxy Note doesn’t feel very gender-specific to me. All this talk about gender feels like an afterthought to market the device; I was already sold on the device from its impressive unveiling last month – and I’m pretty sure a lot of other people were too, but I could be wrong. What do you think of the Galaxy Note? Do you see it as a female-targeted device, and do you plan on getting one for yourself?
