Law Enforcement In-Car Laptop Computer Systems debut

[CES 2012] In what is the first in-car upgrade for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department since 1987, CES 2012 will be the platform where you will be able to catch a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department (LASD) patrol car come with Raytheon Company’s work that integrates the latest generation of public safety technology into the vehicle itself, turning it into a mobile command center of sorts. This decked out vehicle will only be on display at the invitation-only ShowStoppers event that will be held the Lafite Ballroom of the Wynn Hotel.

It is about time actually, as LASD had better do their bit to upgrade their 1980-era terminals since spare parts are becoming rather difficult to come by. With the upgraded system, nearly 10,000 sheriff’s deputies can gain on-the-spot access to the Internet and the Sheriff’s Intranet, mobile fingerprint identification, photos, FBI records, warrants and background checks, as well as taking advantage of a GPS and mapping system which will route deputies to arrive at calls faster than ever before. Anything to help keep our streets safer is a good thing, right?
