Nikon Coolpix P510 has 42x superzoom, while P310 sports f/1.8 lens

Nikon continues their digital camera assault upon the masses with the Coolpix P510 and the Coolpix P310, where the former will proudly carry a 42x superzoom lens, while the latter has a f/1.8 lens. The Coolpix P510 has been described by Nikon as it “breaks the zoom barrier”, thanks to a 42x 24-1000mm optically stabilized lens. Apart from that, expect the P510 to capture some pretty decent images to boot, thanks to its 16.1-megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor, a 3″ LCD display, the ability to capture video in 1080p resolution with stereo sound, while having GPS functionality so that you are able to geotag your images – making them far easier to sort out once you’re done for archiving purposes.

As for those who have a lighter wallet, then the Coolpix P310 might be right up your alley, where it will share a similar 16.1-megapixel backside illuminated CMOS sensor as with the Coolpix P510, albeit featuring a 4.2x 24-100mm f/1.8 (maximum) optically stabilized zoom lens. You will also be on the receiving end of advanced exposure modes such as program, shutter- and aperture-priority, while a full manual mode is also available for those who want to tinker around with the settings.
