Sennheiser HD 700 headphones announced

[CES 2012] Sennheiser, the German audio specialists have announced its new high-end headphones at CES today: the HD 700. Featuring a sleek, futuristic design that’s eye-pleasing the HD 700 is touted to sound as good as it looks. One thing you’ll notice is the oddly shaped ear cups – instead of the regular circles or oblong shapes we’ve come to know, the HD 700 has a specially designed shape that ensures all sound waves are directed to the ears at a slight angle, users a “natural listening experience.”
The ear cups themselves back 40mm Duofol transducers, powerful neodymium magnet systems to reproduce sounds with a frequency response of 10 to 42,000 Hz. The headphones also feature a special shaped gauze which helps reduce the volume of air beneath the diaphragm to give more precise control of the diaphragm motion and significantly lower total harmonic distortion; and a ventilated magnet system to minimize wobbling of the diaphragm as well. In layman’s terms? “brilliant trebles, precise bass reproduction and crystal-clear sound.”

The HD 700 will be available in March and carry a price tag of $999.95.
