Apple’s 2012 iMacs rumored to be slimmer and feature anti-reflective displays

Apple’s all-in-one desktops, the iMac, are due for a refresh soon, but what can we expect from 2012’s models? Well if Digitimes has their facts right this time, it looks like company G-Tech will be the one responsible for supplying Apple with anti-reflective glass panels for the iMac. The publication was quoted as saying “G-Tech is also expected to supply AR (anti-reflective) glass solutions for Apple’s all-in-one (AIO) PCs with the new products to also serve as a growth driver for G-Tech.”

Interestingly, the rumors have also pointed to the possibility that 2012’s iMacs could be completely redesigned and will not just be a mere hardware refresh. Assuming the rumors were to pan out, we could be looking at noticeably slimmer iMac models whose footprint would closely resemble that of today’s LED televisions along with an anti-reflective display, a first as far as Apple desktops are concerned. Previously anti-reflective displays were only offered for Apple’s line of MacBooks.

Granted not really the most revolutionary of changes that we have expected, but given that the last time the iMac was refreshed was back in May of 2011, it shouldn’t be too long before the details of 2012’s iMac is revealed.
