Leaked photo of a device running on Baidu’s Cloud OS spotted

Those living in China and those following the mobile scene are no doubt familiar with China’s Baidu Yi, a mobile platform by the Chinese search engine company that’s pretty much based off Google’s Android mobile operating system. According to reports, Baidu is set to release an update for its Yi platform which has been dubbed Baidu Cloud, and according to Reuters who spoke with the company’s head of mobile, Wang Jing, he stated that the company had several partnerships for the Baidu Cloud platform which would be announced in a week.

Unfortunately before the company had a chance to make that announcement, it seems that several photos of what appears to be an upcoming device running on the Baidu Cloud platform have been leaked (pictured above). Discovered by Sina Tech, it appears that these photos were taken from a Sina Weibo (China’s version of Twitter) account belonging to Baidu’s mobile director, Yue Guofeng.

The photos have since been pulled but not before they were downloaded and saved. According to Sina Tech, the phone will sport a 3.5” display, four soft keys, 100GB of cloud storage and will feature voice capabilities and will be priced at CNY1,000 (~$158) on contract with China Unicom. We expect the announcement to be made this week so be sure to stay tuned for updates, but who else thinks that this mysterious device looks like Nokia’s Lumia series of Windows Phone handsets?
