iOS 6 Maps ported onto the iPhone 4

YouTube Poster

It seems that after all the rumors, Apple has finally taken the wraps off its new Maps app at WWDC earlier this week. This would basically remove Google Maps from the iPhone (as far as the app is concerned) and would be utilizing Apple’s own software. While we have yet to try the app out for ourselves, safe to say that we’re probably not the only ones who are curious as to how well it runs. That being said, Apple dropped a bomb later in the week where it was revealed that despite the majority of iOS devices being eligible for the iOS 6 update, not all the devices will be getting the full iOS 6 treatment.

The good news is that if you’re an iPhone 4 owner and you’d love to get your hands on the new iOS 6 Maps, Russian website iGuides has already published an article on how iPhone 4 users will be able to get their hands on Apple’s new 3D mapping and navigational features for their phone. It does seem a little messy and might not be for the less tech savvy, but if you’re interested pop on over to their forums for the guide. In the mean time you can check out the new Maps app running on the iPhone 4 in the demo videos above and below.
