Fans of the Metal Gear franchise will be pleased to hear that Konami has announced Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance for 2013. The game will be released on both the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, and if the rumors are to be believed, it looks like a version for the PlayStation Vita could also be in the works! Described as “first and foremost an action game,” players will be playing as Raiden, a cybernetic warrior that was last seen in Metal Gear Solid 2. The game will also be set nine years after Metal Gear Solid 4 and according to Kojima Studios writer Etsu Tamari, “he is still suffering from the wounds of the civil war he fought. He’s become a hero with a dark past, one constantly haunted by this guilt.”

The game will focus on directional slashing and according to its director, Kenji Sato, players will have access to a variety of different weapons along with the ability to slash certain background objects and use them as makeshift weapons as well. Air combos and Ninja Dash will be used as a means to traverse the game’s world and based on the trailer, well it’s safe to say that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance will be pretty gory! So if you’d like to check out what the game has to offer, check out the game’s trailer in the video above.
