The Kick aims to bring professional quality lighting to photographers that can be controlled via your phone

Our smartphone cameras are pretty good at taking decent photos these days. Unfortunately the flash on our cameras leave a lot to be desired as many photographers will attest, so what does one do when they want better quality images but don’t want to fork out the money for a fancy camera setup? The Kick Kickstarter project comes to mind. As pictured above, this device is a handheld camera light that allows for more natural and softer illumination compared to the harshness of our phone’s camera flash.

It comes in two different options, the Basic and the Plus version. The former is a simplified version of the Plus and is rather limited in terms of functionality, but it gets the job done. The Plus version is a little more interesting and has the ability to display a variety of different lights. This means that you will not always have to rely on the white light and could go for something that matches with the surroundings. Best of all, the Plus version can be controlled wirelessly on your iPhone via an app so while your assistant holds the Kick, you will be able to maintain the composition of the photo while controlling the lighting remotely.

Also from what we can see, it has a slot that allows users to put in their iPhone, making this accessory a portable solution and allows you to snap better quality photos while on the go. The Kick Basic version will set you back $99 while the Plus version will go for $149, but early adopters will be able to get $10 off either option. Pop on over to its Kickstarter page for the details.
