Barnes & Noble NOOK gets ForeverMap 2

ForeverMap 2It looks like we’ve got another company ditching the usage of Google Maps on its devices – according to reports online, Barnes & Noble tablets are getting maps in the form of ForeverMap 2 from a mobile map company named skobbler. The mapping app will be available for Barnes & Noble’s NOOK tablets and will be up for sale on its NOOK app store. The app will be free to use, but downloadable maps will require the premium version which costs $4.99. Barnes & Noble will also be opening up the NOOK platform to location-based app developers later this year for them to create NOOK-specific location-based apps.

If you’d like to download ForeverMap 2 for your NOOK tablet, head over to the NOOK app store today. Anybody prefer it over Google Maps?
