iPhone 5 being prepared for China release

The iPhone 5, touted to be the best iPhone yet, has just cleared the final hurdles that are in place before it is able to hit the China market. The latest iPhone model is compatible with the two largest networks in that part of the world, namely the GSM and CDMA networks. No idea on whether Apple will now take the big step of selling their iPhone in the world’s most populous country, but we would not rule it out that the iPhone 5 should pop up on China Unicom’s GSM network in due time. After all, with a CDMA (called the A1442 on a chart provided by Sina) and a GSM (A1429) model have both been approved, opening up the door for China Telecom to make millions of dollars along the way as well.

Right now, the most recent iPhone model in China (barring Hong Kong, of course) is still the iPhone 4S, so hopefully with the latest set of approvals, the iPhone 5 will be able to make its sales mark in China before 2013 rolls around. It would definitely make for a decent Lunar New Year present if you’re into that sort of thing.
