HTC Desire U Hits Taiwan

Hmmm, it did seem for a while that we have departed from the traditional naming convention that HTC used such as Rhyme and Desire, and moved on to the One series, but apparently the attraction to the Desire name has yet to fade away in Taiwan as the HTC Desire U has just been released there. Just in case you were wondering whether the HTC Desire U and the Desire X were twins separated at birth, then you are spot on – as it is actually a rebadged Desire X that will target the Taiwanese market.

It does make us wonder, however, why would HTC want to change the alphabet at the end for the same phone in a different market? Won’t it just cause more confusion? After all, we are living in a global village in this day and age, and I am quite sure that calling the Desire X, well, the Desire X in Taiwan would not affect its sales figures adversely. Perhaps there is something that we do not know. The specifications between the two are more or less the same, with a dual-core 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM, WVGA resolution, 4GB of internal memory and a 5-megapixel shooter at the back.
