One of the “benefits” of being an Xbox Gold member is being able to play multiplayer games online through Xbox Live, download timed-exclusive demos and betas and accessing a number of applications on your Xbox 360 such as Netflix, Verizon FiOS and Hulu. If you’re an Xbox Silver member, you haven’t been able to access these features, but this weekend, you’ll be able to access one of them for free.

No – you won’t be able to play online multiplayer for free. Instead, you’ll be able to access Netflix as it’ll be unlocked for Xbox Silver members to access.

Hey! Come back here! There’s more to this story than you think! I swear, it gets better.

OK – before you go storming out again, starting tomorrow until late Sunday night, you’ll be able to access the Netflix app across all Netflix regions. Microsoft is hoping you’ll catch the Netflix original series “House of Cards” in the process, but we’re sure you’ll spend your weekend with Netflix watching episodes of Family Guy.

You’re right – that didn’t get any better, although we’re sure there’s a minority of you who are jumping for joy at the thought you’ll be able to access Netflix without an Xbox Gold account, that is, as long as you have a Netflix account. You do have one, right?
